Preparedness is a process, not a shopping contest. You do not have to buy everything today. Start with the basics your household would need first: water, food, light, communication, first aid, sanitation, and a way to charge essential devices. Then address your household's specific needs. Use a checklist and add one or two useful items at a time. Watch for products that solve more than one problem without buying things simply because they look tactical or impressive. Inventory what you already own. You may already have blankets, flashlights, cookware, backpacks, tools, containers, games, or pet supplies that belong in your preparedness plan. Prepared, not scared means building capability at a pace you can afford.
